World Water Day is an international observance every 22nd of March and an opportunity for us to rethink the ways we use and look at water. It is held annually to give focus to the importance of freshwater sanitation and sustainable management of our precious water resources.
Each year, World Water Day highlights a specific aspect of freshwater. This year's theme is 'Wastewater', with focus in improving water quality as well as reducing, treating and reusing wastewater.
All over the world, a majority of water that we use in our homes, factories, cities and agriculture isn’t treated and reused. Instead, it flows back to nature in its existing state, polluting the environment and simply go to waste.
Treated wastewater can be recycled for many uses - in gardens, green spaces, irrigation and cooling systems, for example.
DHI supports the goal in water recycling and reuse by helping wastewater treatment plants improve treatment processes and optimise operations.
